FINDLING
Design Intervention | „Hohenstaufenplatz“ in Kreuzberg, Berlin
Cities are often built as dystopian inflexible structures that offer little space for the individual. This is also the case with “Hohenstaufenplatz” in Kreuzberg. The park is very rigidly divided and demarcated: Children play in the middle, adults linger at the edges, and people only sit down on benches that have been placed in a planned manner. There is little room for interaction with other people or the park itself. The question arises: What do we need from a public park, a public space?
"FINDLING" is a design intervention in public structures that serves as a tool for individual development and use of urban infrastructures. The module creates a bridge between rigid urban structures and people and invites an open dialogue between them. Not only children can give free rein to their fantasies, but "FINDLING" also constitutes playful entertainment for adults and allows even the older ones among us to become children again.
